TGIFF – Terrain – over and out

Well it’s a freaking fantastic Friday finish for me!  My Terrain quilt is DONE. Two years ago, my parents gave me two layer cakes of Kate Spain’s Terrain line for my birthday. This is my favourite line of fabric EVER and I got straight into it.

Terrain by Kate Spain

I very rarely follow a pattern, but when I saw the  Stepping Stones quilt pattern, I knew I had make it. When I saw the sample quilt, quilted by Judy at Green Fairy Quilts, I fell in love in that mad kind of way that you know is going to lead you into a lot of trouble… And it did. I fell head over heels into a (so far) two year love affair…  This is my second kingsize finish  (not the 2nd I started but we won’t go there). It’s been through three sewing machines and I have been helped out by four dogs, two of whom went over rainbow bridge while this quilt was in progress. Scarlett helped the most, I have to say. My quilting skills have developed OUT OF SIGHT. Just don’t go and look at Judy’s version. It makes my quilting look crap. Seriously. Let’s just forget Judy ever made one and wonder at the awesomeness that is MINE.  Now here is the show…

Now, are we amazed or are we amazed? (Yes Katy, that I actually finished a quilt. But I’m pretty damn happy with it! If you are interested, you  can still. download the pattern here and there’s a great blogpost from Kate Spain herself about the line  here.  I’ve blogged about it here and here.

Now it’s time to party!!! I won’t be responding to comments, I’m sorry, because I will be in Bali, fabric and jewellery and shoe shopping with DragonRambles who is coming ALL THE WAY FROM UK to our little corner of the globe. 🙂

  2. Great quilting to emphasize the design, and I really like the idea of using background fabric on three sides so that the main part of the design just covers the bed surface!

  3. Oh it’s great. Really, really great. I have the samme pattern saved and I too love Terrain line. It’s one of the lines that doesn’t look too ‘put together’. I was just looking at my Terrain left overs the other day and thinking about starting a new quilt 🙂

  4. LOVE it!!! I have my terrain just sitting there waiting for me to love on it…one of these days, but too busy right now. Your quilt will inspire me. =)

  5. Laura, your quilt turned out so beautifully and already carries heartwarming memories. May there be many more to come! Wrap yourself up in that quilt and think of it as a big hug from me. Congratulations on your accomplishment! xo

  6. I love the quilt! It’s gorgeous, and so is Scarlett. I have a KCCavalier named Winston who is my faithful quilting buddy. 😉

  7. What a great finish! I love that line as well and have a quilt on my bed at our cottage in Terrain as well. It says happy to me!
