TGIFF: A Saltwater Finish

Do you ever just fall out of love with something? I bought the whole line of Tula Pink’s Saltwater a couple of years ago and it has been tormenting me ever since. I’ve made a few little things but just fell out of love with the line. I started hand piecing some drunkards path blocks with a vague idea in mind. That didn’t work out so I put them away, waited a while, got them out again, put them away again… Until finally, I bit the bullet and decided to get the monkey (or octopus?) off my back!

Ta da!

And now I love them again!  I like the quilting on the blue better – I was going for organic, sea-weedy swirls around the edges (or that’s what I told myself when my curls became uneven).

These are going to be finding good homes – much as I love them, they aren’t my colours decor wise at the moment…tulapillowboth

Looking forward to seeing your finishes! Please make sure you have a finish, link back to TGIFF or here and visit some other lovely finishes!

And due to an unscheduled mix up, we have a second TGIFF party going at so do go over and say hello!

  1. I fell in love with Saltwater, too, and bought tons of it in the blue and coral colorways. The blue became a wedding quilt for my son and DIL last year. The coral is still biding its time for a perfect summery project. Your pillows are gorgeous and I love your quilting on them. BTW, it is definitely an octopus. ?. (You can see my Saltwater Wedding quilt on my blog or in my IG feed: cathy_k_in_ut )

  2. They look like lovely summery pillows. What I used to like about buying one line was that it all matched so lovely. I really like you pillows, That will be one lucky recipient, or two;)

  3. LOVE the pillows, especially the coral fussy-cut octopus in the center. I too have a stack of coral Salt Water waiting for the perfect pattern – I might have to have a think on Drunkard’s Path blocks.

  5. Those *are* lovely – but I completely understand having a fabric hanging over your head! I have a few in that category, too. My linkup this week is a baby quilt…a few months ago, our elderly neighbor passed away after a long battle with cancer. She, too, was a quilter, and her family left me some of her supplies. In there was a bag of soft fabric – some squares were attached. It was a gift to complete this for her great grandson.

  6. I love your pillows! I think they are really pretty as a pair. Your neutral background fabric and quilting show off the fabric perfectly.
