QAYGFMQAL Sponsor – Green Fairy Quilts

If there’s one quilter I want to be when I grow up, it’s Judi Madsen of Green Fairy Quilts… Judi is just about to head Oz-ward to the Australian Machine Quilter’s Association conference to which sadly, I am not going… Two of my friend are and they have promised to say hi to Judi for me…

I’m almost consoled by the email I had from Judi offering three prizes to QAYGFMQAL followers…  but I still want to go and do her class. But if I can’t, I’ll share the inspiration that is the Green Fairydust around…

Judi Madsen has been a huge source of inspiration for me. I based most of the quilting of my Terrain Quilt on Judi’s work, I stalk follow her blog and on Flickr, and as soon as her book Quilting Wide Open Spaces came out, I knew I had to have it.

There is beautiful quilting for all level of FMQers in here, plus a CD rom with templates of some of the designs and tips on transferring them to your quilt top.

From the simple (I followed the oh-so-clear instructions in Judi’s book to do this block)

To the intricate combinations of different designs that are the hallmarks of a Green Fairy quilt.

As well as Quilting Wide Open Spaces, Judi has two new patterns available in her shop.

This is Starburst

… and this is Just Call me Modern.

Just call me modern by Judi Madsen

Now there is going to be a pretty amazing giveaway later on in the FMQAL, when Judi is back from Down Under, so get your FMQ on.  (Or don’t. I want one of those prizes for myself!). I’m also TOYING with the idea of following this QAL with a GFQAYGFMQAL (Green Fairy/Gluten Free, whichever you prefer) in which you can all follow along and laugh/observe/join in with at my attempts to emulate the Green Fairy… I’d love to hear your thoughts on that…

For now, I’d recommend checking out  Quilting Wide Open Spaces, Judi’s blog and store for lots more pattern inspiration. You can get the book at Judi’s store (she’ll beat all prices for the book so best to get it direct). However if you are outside the US and shipping is a drag for you, you can also find it here.

The Fat Quarter Shop, CraftsyLeah Day and Green Fairy Quilts are all sponsoring the QAYGFMQAL I am not getting anything for myself from these sponsors. Just the joy of connecting with these wonderful, supportive people and be able to offer the QAYGFMQAL peeps something to say thanks for playing along.

  1. HAHA know exactly where you are coming from with this post. I too want to be like Judi when I grow up and I too am missing out on the AMQ in Adelaide…… BUT I do have Judi’s book and I LOVE it. I have made the quilt on the front cover and I am proud to say I am about 1/3 of the way through the quilting !!!
