Plum Crazy – TGIFF giveaway day!

Laurapattern43 Comments

It’s a triple celebration for me today because:

a) it’s our third year of TGIFF

b) I have a finished quilt

c) I have my first self-published pattern finished!

So definitely time for a giveaway! Introducing:

Plum Crazy Fat Quarter Buster

Plum Crazy Fat Quarter Buster

Of course it’s mainly plum crazy because of the colours (V and Co’s Simply Color, one of my favourite lines ever – so versatile), but it did nearly drive me plum crazy trying to get 6x 9 patch blocks out of 6 Fat Quarters and not mix them up while sewing… And without having any ending up next to each other without going totally random and upsetting my sense of balance. But I managed it and what is more, I managed to write instructions on how you can do this without going plum crazy yourself!!! Six people pattern tested it for me and no one ended up in straitjacket.

The beauty of this pattern is, you can stack 6 FQs (or three then three if you aren’t comfortable cutting through six – and let’s face it, most of us aren’t), do one or two sets of cutting and you’re pretty much done! You can also use 9 FQs and do a larger version. I’ve included the requirements and instructions for three sizes in the pattern.

And it looks good in just about any fabric! I have started my second Plum Crazy in Wee Wander. Fabrics that I normally would have fussy cut (and lost loads of) look fine and there’s very little wastage! Two blocks side by side are the exact length of the Wee Wander panel, so I can’t wait to get this one finished.

The final challenge was getting a decent photo of the whole quilt uninterrupted by wind or dogs. My friend Natascha helped out, but so did her Schnocker, Oscar.

And the final test, my neighbours Mei and Yu helped out.

There’s a Plum Crazy dance that goes with this quilt, but you’ll have to get instructions on that from Mei and Yu.

So that’s my TGIFF double whammy for the week!

And it wouldn’t be a celebration without good friends to help celebrate, so a few of my good bloggy friends are going to show you what they’d do with the pattern and maybe offer you a giveaway or two over the coming week. I’ll do a post tomorrow saying who and where, so please check back!

And in other news, Ms Midge has also released her first self-published pattern. It’s like we’ve given birth in the same week. So as a treasure-hunt, when you are checking out the links below, if you can find Ms Midge, check out her post and leave me a comment giving me one word that she uses in her post that isn’t ‘quilt’, ‘pattern’ or the/a (to show me you really looked) etc… and I’ll choose one winner and send you a copy of Plum Crazy. – GIVEAWAY CLOSED

If you’d like a copy of Plum Crazy, you can get 20% off for the coming week by using the code Plum20. Go here to get a hold of it.
