Medallion progress – quilting begins

Woohoo! Some progress at last! I decided to give my grey monster-quilt a bit of a rest and tackle something that wasn’t fifty shades of grey-and-green… So I got my Mod Medallion quilt basted and under the machine.

First steps first – in the ditch and echoing the red medallions. My smaller oval arc quilting ruler and a straight edge were perfect. I thought it was going to be annoying swapping so much between sections of the arc, but you can only do small bursts at a time when working with rulers anyway, so it’s working nicely.medalruler

You can’t see the red on red very well, but the echo is looking good. I’m going to try to keep this one simple because the pattern is fairly busy…. (Famous last words – let’s wait and see shall we?!)

Linking up with WIP Wednesday!

  1. Good luck with quilting. I’ve never used rulers with quilting before. Didn’t realize that was something that could be done.

  2. Always a fan of red and black. Have you discussed using the ruler work on a domestic machine? I’d love some tips.

  3. I am looking forward to seeing how you quilt this. I have found that getting started is the hardest part. Once I get going, I just take it one area at a time. I think you will do great.

I just subscribed again to your email notifications. I am sure I did that before, but I haven’t been getting them. I look forward to seeing what you are doing.
